BEAUMONT, Texas — A tragic shooting in a west end neighborhood has left a 31-year-old man dead and a 17-year-old in custody, as police continue to investigate what led to the fatal incident. Officers with the Beaumont Police Department were dispatched to the 1900 block of Rafes Way around 7:45 a.m.on March 24 following reports of gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers entered the residence and discovered the victim inside, already deceased. The shocking discovery prompted an immediate response from detectives, who began gathering evidence and speaking with potential witnesses to piece together the events that unfolded.

During the preliminary investigation, authorities developed a description of a possible suspect vehicle. With the help of the department’s Real Time Crime Center and city license plate reader technology, officers were able to track the vehicle to the 5400 block of Pine Street. There, 17-year-old Bryson Parkerson was located and taken into custody without incident.

Parkerson has been arrested on a charge of tampering with evidence in connection to the homicide. However, investigators believe the case extends beyond a single individual. Detectives have indicated that additional parties may have been involved, and more charges are expected as the investigation continues.

The identity of the victim has not yet been publicly released, and officials are working to notify next of kin. Meanwhile, the community is left grappling with the violence and uncertainty surrounding the case.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing that every detail could be crucial in bringing full clarity and justice to this developing situation.
