A Life of Love and Legacy: Remembering Byron Whitworth.
Byron Whitworth, age 63, of the Mt. Hebron Community, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Born on August 31, 1962, in Hardinsburg, Kentucky, he was the beloved son of the late Loyd and Leona Clark Whitworth. Byron lived a life defined by devotion—to his family, his work, and his community.
A dedicated employee, Byron retired from Altec after 23 years of service, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment. Yet, beyond his career, his greatest pride and joy was always his family. He was a loving husband, father, and “Papaw,” whose happiest moments were spent surrounded by those he loved. Whether farming, hunting, or enjoying time with his rabbit dogs, Byron found fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life. He was also an enthusiastic fan of the Louisville Cardinals, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on.
Known for his warm heart and welcoming smile, Byron treated everyone with kindness and respect. He was a role model to many, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Darrell, sister Anna Lee, niece Kalyn, and nephew Brian. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; his sons Lance and Brandon; siblings, extended family, and many cherished grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM (CDT), Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Rogers Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Saint Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 8 PM and Tuesday morning. Donations in Byron’s memory may be made to Saint Paul Catholic School.
