16-Year-Old Timothee Englund Dies After Light Tower Incident at Bushwick Inlet Park.
BROOKLYN, NY — A heartbreaking tragedy has left a community in mourning after 16-year-old Timothee Englund died following a fall from a light tower at Bushwick Inlet Park. The incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on March 20 in the Williamsburg waterfront area, according to the New York Police Department.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a person falling from an elevated structure. When they arrived, they found Timothee on the ground near the tower, suffering from severe head trauma. The structure, which stands several stories tall near North 10th Street and Kent Avenue, has reportedly been a known attraction in the neighborhood.
Emergency responders rushed him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death as the investigation continues.
Timothee’s parents, Yvette and Tobias Englund, described their son as a “goofy” and loving teenager who had a deep passion for sports. Friends and neighbors have echoed those sentiments, remembering him as full of life and energy.
Residents have also raised concerns about safety in the area, noting that gaps in the surrounding fence near the tower have existed for years. Authorities are now working to determine how and why Timothee accessed the structure.
As the investigation continues, a grieving family and community are left remembering a young life lost far too soon.
