Authorities in Azusa are investigating a troubling and unusual case after a man was discovered dead inside an out-of-service police vehicle parked outside the Azusa Police Department. The man has been identified as Eric Valencia, a 37-year-old whose death has sparked concern and raised multiple unanswered questions.
According to officials, Valencia’s body was found at approximately 4:51 a.m. on March 26, positioned in the back seat of the patrol vehicle. The car, which had been taken out of service for scheduled maintenance, was reportedly left unlocked and parked outside the police station at the time of the incident. It remains unclear how Valencia gained access to the vehicle or how long he had been inside before being discovered.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has deferred Valencia’s cause of death pending further investigation. Authorities have not yet indicated whether foul play is suspected, leaving the circumstances surrounding his death uncertain.
Records show that Valencia had previously been arrested on March 20 at 10:09 p.m. and was released from custody on March 23 at 12:38 p.m. The connection, if any, between his prior arrest and his death is currently unknown.
