The call alleged that Chase Benham of Jasper had damaged a vehicle and attempted to set it on fire.

Officers located Benham on Darnell Road, where the situation escalated. Law enforcement officials said Benham allegedly threw knives at responding officers, prompting them to discharge their firearms. Benham was struck once and immediately taken to a nearby trauma hospital for treatment. Authorities did not release details about his current medical condition but confirmed he was receiving care.
