The Decatur, Alabama community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 10-year-old C.J. Bone, who was killed in a devastating car crash last week near the intersection of Highway 67 and 8th Street. The tragic accident has left family members, friends, and neighbors grieving the sudden loss of a young life that meant so much to those around him.
C.J. was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His parents and his 3-year-old younger brother were also injured in the accident and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. While they continue to recover physically, loved ones say the emotional pain of losing C.J. has been overwhelming for the entire family.
Friends close to the family are stepping forward to offer their support during this incredibly difficult time. Kadence Oladapo, a family friend who worked with C.J.’s parents, said the young boy felt like family to her. She described him as someone who brought joy to those around him and said his loss has been deeply felt by everyone who knew him.
“I have siblings and C.J. felt like a sibling to me,” Oladapo shared. “If something like that happened to my siblings, I don’t think I could carry on.”
The tragedy has been especially difficult for C.J.’s 3-year-old brother, who continues to ask about him. According to Oladapo, the young child has been trying to understand where his brother is and why he hasn’t come home.
As the family begins the long process of healing, the Decatur community is coming together to offer prayers, support, and comfort, ensuring that C.J. Bone’s memory and the love surrounding his family remain strong.
