A disturbing timeline has emerged in a Tennessee homicide case involving former National Football League linebacker Darron Lee, who allegedly asked ChatGPT for advice about an unresponsive person more than 12 hours before contacting police. Lee, 31, is currently charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in Hamilton County, Tennesseeand is being held without bond as the case moves toward a grand jury review.

Lee, a former standout at Ohio State University who last played in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills in 2020, is accused of killing his girlfriend, 29-year-old Gabriella Perpetuo. Authorities say Perpetuo was found dead on February 5 inside a Tennessee home the couple had reportedly begun moving into roughly 10 days earlier.

According to testimony presented during a preliminary hearing on March 9, detectives recovered digital evidence from Lee’s phone that revealed a conversation with ChatGPT on February 4, about 12 hours before police were called. Investigators said Lee used the name “Xander,” a shortened version of his middle name, and referred to the AI as “Allie.”

One message presented in court reportedly read: “Don’t know what to do right now… she isn’t waking up or responding what do I do?” In the conversation, Lee allegedly described his fiancée as having swollen eyes and possible stab-like wounds. The AI reportedly responded that the situation sounded serious and advised that medical help was necessary.

A preliminary autopsy cited multiple severe injuries suffered by Perpetuo, including a broken jaw, brain hematomas, shallow stab wounds, and a broken neck. The case now awaits further review by a grand jury as investigators continue examining evidence.
