Gas Station Argument Turns Deadly, Renina Simmons Killed After Warning “He’s Finna Kill Me”.

A routine stop at a gas station in Rapides Parish turned into tragedy on March 5, 2026, when an argument between 51-year-old Renina Simmons and 39-year-old Shamond Lamar Sanders escalated into fatal violence. Witnesses say the two were already arguing at a gas pump before moving the confrontation inside the gas station. As tensions rose, the clerk asked them to take the argument outside. Moments before the shooting, Simmons reportedly turned to the clerk and said, “He’s finna kill me,” chilling everyone present.

Shortly after, Sanders allegedly drew a gun and fired multiple shots, striking Simmons. He then reportedly dropped the weapon and fled the scene, leaving her critically injured. Simmons was pronounced dead at 11:04 a.m., and her death has been ruled a homicide by the Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office.

By March 6, authorities had identified Sanders as the suspect. Police describe him as 5’11”, about 220 pounds, bald, and last seen driving a 2023 gray Nissan Altima with Louisiana license plate 990JGZ. He is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 318-443-7867.

Court records reveal that Sanders has a prior violent criminal history, including convictions for manslaughter and armed robbery, as well as a two-year sentence for battery on a correctional facility employee. He was released on parole in June 2024.

The violent encounter has reignited debate over whether offenders with serious past convictions should be reintegrated into society or whether cases like this call for a reevaluation of the criminal justice system. Simmons’ family, the gas station clerk, and the community are left mourning a life cut tragically short, reminding all how quickly violence can escalate and devastate lives.
