Kentucky State Police Investigate Deadly Todd County Shooting, Jerell Edmonds Charged in Killing of Evan Hall.
Authorities with the Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred in Todd County on the morning of March 8, 2026. The case is being handled by troopers from Post 2 after emergency calls reported an injured man lying in the roadway in Guthrie, Kentucky.
According to officials, KSP Post 2 Dispatch began receiving calls around 9:20 a.m. Central Time regarding an adult male on Springmont Circle who appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. When first responders arrived at the scene, they located the victim and quickly began investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
During the preliminary investigation, authorities identified the victim as Evan Hall, a 24-year-old resident of Guthrie. Investigators determined that Jerell Edmonds, 24, of Elkton, Kentucky, was the suspect responsible for Hall’s death. Officials also reported that a second victim was present at the scene and appeared to have sustained injuries connected to the incident. The extent of those injuries has not yet been publicly detailed.
Troopers quickly located and arrested Edmonds following the incident. He has been charged with murder, fourth-degree assault, and possession of marijuana. After his arrest, Edmonds was transported to and lodged in the Todd County Jail, where he remains in custody as the legal process moves forward.
The investigation is currently being led by Detective Jacob Stephens of Kentucky State Police Post 2. Authorities say the case remains active, and additional information may be released as investigators continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
