A heartbreaking investigation is underway in Penn Hills after a 3-year-old boy was found unresponsive inside a home and later pronounced dead, with authorities revealing the child had suffered severe and repeated abuse. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Devin Goodson, whose death has sparked outrage and sorrow throughout the community.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Dorothy Drive at approximately 12:43 p.m. Wednesday following a report of a child who was not breathing. First responders arrived quickly and attempted lifesaving efforts before transporting the young boy to a nearby hospital. Despite those efforts, Devin was later pronounced dead.

According to investigators, the child showed clear signs of severe physical abuse. Detectives reported that Devin had suffered multiple bone fractures, including both newly broken bones and others that appeared to be in the process of healing. Authorities say this pattern suggests the injuries occurred over an extended period of time rather than in a single incident.

Following interviews with witnesses and the collection of evidence, police determined that Devin’s mother, 23-year-old Lagomau Malu, allegedly abused the child on multiple occasions. Malu has been charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children and is currently being held at the county jail.

Police later announced that Devin’s father, 22-year-old Adam Chirico, has also been charged in connection with the case. He faces charges of endangering the welfare of children and endangering another person.

The medical examiner is continuing to investigate to determine the official cause and manner of Devin Goodson’s death as authorities pursue justice in this tragic case.
