Authorities in Fresno have identified the man who was fatally shot during a violent disturbance at an apartment complex over the weekend. According to the Fresno Police Department, the victim has been confirmed as 32-year-old Shannon Ivory.

Police say officers were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday to reports of a shooting at the Colonia del Sol Apartments in northwest Fresno. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Ivory and an unidentified 22-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders attempted to assist both victims, but Ivory ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The second victim, whose identity has not yet been publicly released, was also injured in the incident.

According to investigators, Ivory and the 22-year-old man had accompanied a woman to the apartment complex so she could retrieve personal belongings from her unit. During the visit, police say a disturbance broke out involving Ivory, the unidentified man, another resident of the complex, and that resident’s friend.

Detectives believe the confrontation escalated quickly. While there is some evidence suggesting a shot may have been fired inside the apartment, investigators have determined that both victims were ultimately shot in the carport area of the complex.

Authorities are continuing to piece together the exact sequence of events that led to the gunfire. Detectives have been canvassing the surrounding neighborhood for witnesses and reviewing possible surveillance footage that may have captured the moments leading up to the shooting.
