Clarke County Man Arrested in Kidnapping Case, Robert Gaines Faces Multiple Felony Charges Following Three-Week Investigation.
CLARKE COUNTY — Authorities have arrested Robert Gaines in connection with a kidnapping case from March 8th, 2026, Clarke County CID Major Shane Harper confirmed. Gaines, 18, has been charged as an adult, and his total bond has been set at $85,000 by the Clarke County Courthouse.
Major Harper stated that Gaines is facing multiple felony charges, including child prno_graphy ($20,000 bond), statutory r_pe ($20,000 bond), kidnapping ($20,000 bond), shooting into a dwelling ($15,000 bond), and motor vehicle taking ($10,000 bond). Harper explained that the charges are the result of a three-week investigation into Gaines’ involvement in multiple criminal activities.
“Investigators have worked diligently over the past several weeks to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and determine the full scope of Gaines’ actions,” Harper said. He added that additional charges could be filed as the ongoing investigation continues.
