The Gainesville community is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of James Brandon Czerepusko, a 31-year-old resident and University of Florida alumnus who was found dead on campus Monday evening after being reported missing.
Czerepusko was last seen Saturday when he went out for a bike ride but never returned home, prompting concern from loved ones. By Sunday, he had been officially reported missing, sparking worry among family, friends, and the wider community who hoped for his safe return. Tragically, those hopes were shattered the following day.
According to Gainesville Police Department public information officer Art Forgey, Czerepusko’s body was discovered behind the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine at approximately 6 p.m. Monday. Authorities were notified shortly thereafter and began their investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
While the discovery has left many searching for answers, officials have stated that there is no indication of foul play. Despite this, the unexpected nature of his passing has left a deep sense of loss among those who knew him.
