In Loving Memory of Rachael Floyd: Mississippi Mother of Three Remembered After Tragic Floodwaters Swept Away SUV.

Today, family members, friends, and the Oak Grove and Petal communities are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Rachael Floyd, a 36-year-old mother of three whose life was tragically taken during severe flooding in Forrest County, Mississippi. Her sudden passing has left loved ones devastated as they struggle to process an unimaginable tragedy that unfolded during powerful storms Monday afternoon.

According to authorities, Rachael was driving through the Eastbrook Commons area near Petal Walmart around 3 p.m. when rapidly rising floodwaters overwhelmed the roadway. Witnesses reportedly rushed toward the SUV in desperate attempts to help her escape as the current intensified. Tragically, the vehicle was swept into a culvert and became submerged before rescuers could reach her.

Dive teams later recovered Rachael’s body near Highway 42 after hours of searching. The SUV was eventually removed once floodwaters began to recede.

For those who knew Rachael, the tragedy feels especially painful because of the love and dedication she carried for her family every single day. Loved ones shared that shortly before the flooding began, she had dropped off her three young sons at her mother’s home to ensure they would remain safe. She reportedly borrowed her mother’s SUV after leaving her own vehicle behind so her children could continue having access to their car seats.

Rachael leaves behind her husband, Ben Floyd, and their three children. Friends say the family had already been enduring difficult times as Ben continues battling a high-grade astrocytoma brain tumor.

As tributes continue pouring in, many are remembering Rachael Floyd as a devoted mother, loving wife, and compassionate woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her. Though her life ended far too soon, her memory will continue living on through the family she loved so deeply and the countless lives she touched along the way.
