Reports indicate that the search for Adam McDaniel, the man accused of shooting a father and kidnapping his 7-year-old son in Lafayette, has come to an end. According to multiple sources, McDaniel has been found dead, though authorities have not yet released full official details regarding the circumstances surrounding his death. Law enforcement activity was reported in the Stockwell area as the situation unfolded.
The case began on April 6, when police responded to a shooting at the Overlook Apartments around 8:42 a.m. The victim, who survived, told officers that McDaniel had shot him before abducting his young son. The incident triggered an urgent search effort and widespread concern throughout the community.
Investigators later uncovered troubling details leading up to the घटना. According to reports, tensions had been building since March, when the father told McDaniel and his girlfriend, Marrissa Parker, to stay out of his son’s life. Authorities say Parker allegedly attempted to assert control over the child, even changing school documents to claim she had custody. Text messages reviewed by police reportedly show Parker offering to buy the child, which the father refused.
Police also allege that McDaniel assisted Parker by tracking the child’s location and reporting back to her. After the shooting, the child was taken and later found safe. He told investigators that McDaniel shot his father before bringing him to Parker and then to another location.
Parker remains in custody facing multiple charges, including kidnapping, as the investigation continues to unfold.
