A quiet neighborhood in Dover has been shaken by a tragic discovery after a 78-year-old woman and her 57-year-old son were found dead inside their home Tuesday morning. Authorities have identified the victims as Eileen Shevelin and Thomas Wallace, and say the case is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide.
According to officials, officers conducted a welfare check at a residence on Dover Point Road around 9 a.m. When they entered the home, they discovered both individuals deceased. Investigators reported that Shevelin was found in her bed, while Wallace appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The joint statement from the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and the Dover Police Department confirmed that detectives are actively working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. While early findings suggest a potential murder-suicide, authorities emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.
Autopsies have been scheduled at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Concord, where officials hope to gain further clarity on the cause and manner of death. At this time, law enforcement has stated there is no known threat to the public.
The tragic loss has left the local community stunned, as neighbors reflect on the sudden and heartbreaking nature of the incident. As investigators continue their work, many are left searching for answers while mourning the loss of two lives within the same family.
