NEWBURGH, Maine — A quiet Saturday afternoon turned tragic when 58-year-old Darcel Geiser of Brewer lost her life in a devastating rollover crash along Interstate 95 in Newburgh. Maine State Police confirmed that Geiser was pronounced dead at the scene after the vehicle she was operating left the roadway and rolled over multiple times near mile marker 174, just north of the Exit 174 on-ramp.
According to investigators, the crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 13, 2026. Preliminary findings indicate that Geiser was traveling northbound in the passing lane when, for reasons that remain under investigation, her vehicle veered off the interstate. The vehicle then rolled over several times, causing catastrophic damage.
Authorities reported that Geiser was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Emergency responders worked quickly to reach her, but the severity of the collision required extrication efforts before she could be removed from the wreckage. Despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The tragic loss has left family members, friends, and the Brewer community mourning a life cut short. While officials continue to examine the circumstances that led to the crash, those who knew Darcel are remembering her as more than a victim of a traffic accident. She is being remembered as a cherished loved one whose presence touched the lives of many around her.
