Airport Arrest, Suspect in Indianapolis Shooting Taken Into Custody at Indianapolis International Airport.

Authorities in Indianapolis have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with a recent shooting investigation after he arrived at the Indianapolis International Airport on Tuesday. The arrest comes several days after a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound in what investigators believe was a targeted incident earlier this month.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), officers responded around 1:15 a.m. on March 6 to a report of a person shot in the 3700 block of Graceland Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered an injured man with a gunshot wound. During their initial investigation, officers learned the shooting had actually occurred in the 220 block of West 38th Street, near North Meridian Street, before the victim was later located on Graceland Avenue.

Detectives quickly began gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Through their investigation, they identified a 37-year-old man as the primary suspect in the case. However, in accordance with local media policy, the suspect’s identity has not been publicly released because formal charges had not yet been filed by prosecutors at the time of the arrest.

Investigators soon determined that the suspect had traveled out of state following the incident. Authorities initially tracked him to El Paso, Texas, before learning he later traveled to Denver. From there, he boarded a flight bound for Indianapolis.

When the plane landed at Indianapolis International Airport on March 10, officers with the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force were waiting and took the suspect into custody without incident. Federal authorities also confirmed the man was on supervised release related to a previous federal drug trafficking conviction.

The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors review the case and determine potential charges.
