High-Speed Police Evasion Ends in Tragedy: Jerome Turner and Kelby Broward-Richardson Found Dead in Parkland Canal.

PARKLAND, Fla. — A tragic chain of events following a high-speed police evasion ended with the deaths of two men whose bodies were recovered from a canal in Parkland on Friday. Authorities have identified the victims as 32-year-old Jerome Turner and 31-year-old Kelby Broward-Richardson.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the incident involved a 2025 BMW X1 that was fleeing from the Sunrise Police Department in connection with a separate matter. Investigators say the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the pursuing officer lost sight of it. While canvassing the surrounding area, the officer later located the BMW submerged in a canal on the north side of Loxahatchee Road near Nob Hill Road.

Initially, it was unclear whether Turner and Broward-Richardson had been inside the vehicle or had fled the scene on foot. A large-scale search effort was launched, involving aviation units, K-9 teams, drones, and dive personnel. Despite extensive efforts throughout the day, the men were not immediately located.

Later that evening, members of the BSO Dive Team recovered both men from the canal. They were pronounced dead at the scene, bringing a somber end to the search operation.

Authorities also confirmed that 26-year-old Anthony Davis of Plantation was arrested by Sunrise Police in connection with the incident. However, details regarding his role have not yet been fully disclosed.

Investigators believe excessive speed was a significant factor in the crash. The case remains under active investigation as officials work to determine the full circumstances surrounding this fatal incident.
