The community of Amenia is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Scott Anderson, 54, who was killed in a devastating two-vehicle crash on South Amenia Road in the Town of Amenia, New York. Authorities confirmed Anderson’s death in an update released by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, June 10, following the fatal collision that occurred on Monday afternoon.

According to investigators, the crash happened at approximately 4:50 p.m. when Anderson was driving a 1998 Porsche Carrera eastbound on South Amenia Road near Benson Road. Preliminary findings indicate that Anderson lost control of the vehicle while traveling along the roadway. The Porsche crossed into the westbound lane, where it collided with a 2020 Honda Pilot traveling in the opposite direction.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, Anderson was pronounced dead at the crash site. The driver of the Honda Pilot sustained injuries and was transported to Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Officials reported that those injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office stated that unsafe speed by the Porsche appears to have been the primary factor contributing to the collision. At this stage of the investigation, no criminal charges have been filed, and detectives continue to examine all circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
