Deadly Altercation in Jackson, Joshua Butler, 24, Identified as Victim in Ridgewood Road Shooting.
JACKSON, Miss. — Authorities have identified Joshua Butler, 24, as the man who died following an early morning shooting on Sunday, March 22, along Ridgewood Road. The incident, now under investigation, marks another tragic loss in a city grappling with rising violence.
According to Jackson Police Department Public Information Officer Tommie Brown, officers responded around 2:30 a.m. to reports of a shooting in the 6300 block of Ridgewood Road. Upon arrival, homicide detectives learned that Butler had been shot following what officials described as an altercation.
Authorities say Butler was transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle, but despite efforts to save him, he later died from his injuries. At this time, no suspect information has been released, and investigators continue working to determine what led to the deadly confrontation.
Initial reports suggested the shooting occurred at Last Call Sports Bar; however, the business owner has stated the incident did not take place inside the establishment but rather nearby, adding some uncertainty to the exact location of the घटना.
According to local records, Butler’s death marks Jackson’s 16th homicide of 2026 and the seventh reported in March alone, underscoring ongoing concerns about public safety in the area.
