Chelsea Miller Killed, Shirley Rill Seriously Injured in Perry Township Crash.
PERRY TOWNSHIP — 35-year-old Chelsea Miller of Lisbon and 78-year-old Shirley Rill of Salem were involved in a tragic two-car crash along State Route 173 that left Miller dead and Rill seriously injured. The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating the fatal collision, which occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, near mile marker 11 in Perry Township.
According to authorities, the crash involved a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Rill and a 2013 Nissan Rogue driven by Miller. Preliminary findings indicate that Rill’s vehicle crossed left of center for reasons that remain under investigation and struck Miller’s vehicle head-on, causing catastrophic damage.
Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene and provided immediate medical care to both drivers. Miller was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to her injuries despite life-saving efforts. Her death has left loved ones and members of the Lisbon community devastated.
Rill was also transported to a separate hospital, where she continues to receive treatment for serious injuries. Officials have not yet released further details regarding her condition.
Investigators with OSHP are continuing to examine all possible contributing factors, including road conditions, driver impairment, or potential medical emergencies. No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information to come forward as they work to determine the exact cause of this heartbreaking incident.
