Deadly Gas Station Shooting in Peoria: 23-Year-Old Marnelius Alexander Identified as Victim.

PEORIA, Ill. — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that took place late Wednesday night at a gas station in South Peoria, marking yet another tragic incident of gun violence in the community. According to officials, the victim has been identified as 23-year-old Marnelius Alexander, a resident of Peoria.

The Peoria County Coroner’s Office confirmed Alexander’s identity following an autopsy conducted after the incident. Coroner Jamie Harwood reported that Alexander suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest. The injury proved immediately fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:45 p.m.

Law enforcement officers responded to reports of gunfire at the gas station late Wednesday evening. Upon arrival, they discovered Alexander unresponsive. Despite efforts to assess the situation, it was quickly determined that he had succumbed to his injuries before emergency medical assistance could make a difference.
