DOTHAN, Ala. — Authorities have identified 27-year-old Rickie Temmis of Dothan as the victim in a homicide investigation after his body was discovered Saturday morning in a residential neighborhood. The tragic case has left the community shaken as police continue searching for answers.
According to Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd, the shooting is believed to have occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17. Temmis’ body was found the following morning in a yard near the intersection of Owens Street and Mauldin Drive, located in the Cloverdale subdivision. The delay between the shooting and the discovery has raised questions as investigators work to piece together the timeline of events.
Earlier reports from the scene indicated that shell casings were scattered along Owens Street. Authorities noted that approximately 10 shell casings were found in the roadway, suggesting a violent and targeted incident. The presence of multiple casings has become a key focus for investigators as they analyze evidence and attempt to determine what led to the shooting.
Dothan Police have officially classified the case as a murder, though no suspect information has been released at this time. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence, speak with potential witnesses, and follow leads that may bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding Temmis’ death.
As the investigation remains ongoing, the community mourns the loss of a young life taken too soon, while authorities urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing justice to the case.
